It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Johnny Weaver, longtime on-air presence and the silent voice behind AM Gold on The Elm - 1620 AM.
For more than two years, Dr. Weaver curated and presented AM Gold with quiet precision and deep respect for the format. His broadcasts honored the era when AM radio mattered most; when songs were chosen carefully, pacing was deliberate, and the listener was never rushed.
From late morning through evening, Weaver became synonymous with the station’s AM Gold sound. He allowed the records to lead.
Dr. Weaver understood that AM Gold was not nostalgia, it was preservation.
His passing leaves a silence that cannot be filled, only acknowledged.
Effective immediately, Gene Sunshine will take over AM Gold programming on The Elm - 1620 AM.
